:: Facebook acquires location app Glancee :: Just one month after Facebook bought Instagram, the social networking giant is acquiring another company – this time it’s Glancee. Glancee is an ambient location-based service. It’s mobile app uses Facebook as a login and the location of the user to connect with other like-minded people near that person’s location. Glancee also lets users explore profiles of people nearby and receive notifications of people with similar interests. The company announced the deal in an email statement today, but the details of the deal were not disclosed If you will head over to to Glancee’s site, you will be welcomed by the words “Glancee is joining Facebook!”. Apparently Facebook has already shut down the Glancee’s location app and its full-time employees will be joining Facebook as well. “We are thrilled to confirm that Facebook has acquired Glancee. The acquisition closed today. We can’t wait for co-founders Andrea, Alberto and Gabriel to join the Facebook team to work on products that help people discover new places and share them with friends,” Facebook said. Glancee is expected to work on location-related features for the giant social network. Facebook will raise as much as $11.8 billion via an initial public offering and it’s using acquisitions to fuel growth in services for mobile users.
